This section of the workshop will take place almost entirely in-world.  However, you can find some links to images and videos on basic building techniques in Second Life below.

These images (slideshow above the videos) and videos take you through the basic steps of building, and working with building tools, in Second Life.  We will practice many of these elements during the workshop.

This slideshow offers an overview of the building process in SL, ranging from your first rezz to textures and linking.  Follow this link to access full size images of the slideshow:  http://picasaweb.google.com/randallsadler/SLBuildingTutorials

What is a prim?  The is the most basic building block (literally...but virtually!) of Second Life.

What does Rez mean?

Basic camera controls. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to get the view/angle you want when you are building in SL. These camera control tips will help you focus on exactly what you need!

Editing tools. If you create something in Second Life and want to change it, you need these tools.

Using the building grid. This is a very helpful tool when building since it allows you to move objects quickly and precisely.

Linking prims. Once you create something in Second Life you'll probably have a number of objects that you used. However, they are all "loose." Linking is the process of "sticking" them all together!
